Woman testifies that Mountie exposed himself, touched breasts

CBC News

A woman gave an emotional account at the trial of a Saskatchewan Mountie on Tuesday, telling court he took her from a cell, showed her his penis and fondled her breasts.

The alleged victim — whose name can not be published due to a court ban — was testifying about Const. Thierry Jacques, whose sexual assault trial began in Prince Albert on Monday.

Jacques is accused of sexually assaulting the woman at a police facility in La Ronge in September 2004. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is currently under suspension from the force.

According to the woman’s testimony in court, RCMP officers picked her up in La Ronge for drunkenness. She was taken to a cell and thought she was going to be released the next day.

Instead, she alleged under questioning from a Crown prosecutor, Jacques opened the door and told her to go with him.

The woman said the she knew something was wrong when Jacques directed her to a garage door.

She asked Jacques whether he was going to release her. He said no and told her to sit in a chair.

Jacques offered her a cigarette which she accepted. She tried to ignore the officer as she smoked it.

The policeman then took out his penis, the woman told the court as tears fell from her eyes.

She alleged that Jacques began stroking himself and moaning, then told her to lift up her shirt and touched her breasts. She said she was told to touch him, which she did. The woman testified that Jacques then ejaculated on her belly and the shirt she was wearing.

On Monday, a Crown witness testified that DNA found in semen stains on the shirt belonged to Jacques.

The woman was cross-examined by a defence lawyer and acknowledged that she had used marijuana and alcohol.

The defence also focused on inconsistencies in the descriptions the woman gave about her alleged attacker.

The trial continues.
