Why not charges in road death?

Paul Baldwin, Victoria, B.C. (Times Colonist) – RCMP officer Monty Robinson has escaped charges of impaired driving causing death. The perception is that this is a travesty of justice. His defence — that he went home and had two drinks of vodka before returning to the crash scene — is a joke and a slap in the face of this young man’s parents.

If this was an average citizen, the case would have probably wound its way through the court system by now.

Of course, the biggest tragedy in this incident is a young man has lost his life to a driver who now faces the lesser charge of obstruction of justice.

As a lay person, I do not claim to understand the intricate workings of the court system, but I can state, without hesitation, shame on the Crown for their decision and shame on Robinson, who walked away from the accident leaving this young man to die on the street.

Is it any wonder the public is losing faith in the justice system?
