(CanWest News Service) - Victoria, BC Police Chief Paul Battershill has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the city’s police board reviews allegations against him.
On Wednesday, while Battershill was at a Halifax conference, Mayor Alan Lowe, chairman of the police board, convened an emergency meeting, which lasted past midnight. Deputy chief Bill Naughton has been named acting chief. Lowe said yesterday the accusations are a personnel issue.
