Stony Plain, A.B. (Canadian Press) - A judge ruled yesterday that there is enough evidence to send two men to trial for first-degree murder in the deaths of four Alberta RCMP officers.
The officers were gunned down by James Roszko on his property near Mayerthorpe, Alta., in March, 2005.
Shawn Hennessey, 28, and his brother-in-law Dennis Cheeseman, 24, both of Barrhead, Alta., were charged last year.
Provincial Court Judge Peter Ayotte made the ruling after a month-long preliminary inquiry to hear evidence.
The two men, who are free on bail, are accused of helping Mr. Roszko, who later killed himself. Police have not said, however, what it is they were supposed to have done.
