Kamloops, B.C. (Canadian Press) - The trial of a Whistler Mountie charged with assaulting another officer in Kamloops wrapped up Thursday, but he’ll have to wait about a week for a decision.
Const. Devon Jones has admitted punching a fellow member in the face at a charity function called the Mountie Stomp in 2006.
At issue is whether the force was justified.
Jones maintains the officer had a dangerous grip the throat of his friend.
The crown contends the blow wasn’t justified, although admitting if the assaulted officer used a grip known as a “tiger claw”, Jones should be acquitted.
Provincial Court Judge Allan Betton doesn’t expect to reach a decision for at least a week. (CHNL)
