Gary Dimmock (Ottawa Citizen Blog) – The police search warrant in the case against Ottawa RCMP Supt. Mike Gaudreau was executed at Metro Suburban Realty Ltd., a commercial property broker where his girlfriend, Gillian Burnside, works as a sales rep.
The top Mountie’s girlfriend collected a $70,000 commission on a $3-million lease the RCMP signed for a secret operations warehouse in Ottawa’s east end. The location of the ‘secret operations’ base is on Hawthorne Road.
The RCMP has declined to talk about the investigation into one of their own because they want to keep it a secret too.
It’s a hard secret to keep because Mounties start talking when a top boss gets charged for disgraceful conduct under the RCMP Act.
He hasn’t had a disciplinary hearing yet so nothing’s been established by any tribunal.
Senior Mounties at Ottawa HQ have also called in Ontario Provincial Police detectives to sniff around the $3-million RCMP lease that Gaudreau’s girlfriend collect the $70,000 commission.
I know she got the commission because she told me so.
And she said she earned it fair and square.
But it may not have been a fair deal for the Mounties, and in turn, the taxpayer. That’s because the secret-ops building remains vacant even though the Mounties have been paying rent on it every month.
Gaudreau, the RCMP officer in charge of planning, human resources, finance and acquisitions, is now on leave and has not been charged with any crime.
The criminal investigation against Gaudreau continues …
