It is cheaper to make them an offer and not admit to any liability, along with a gag clause, than it is to fight even if the suit is frivolous, and the situation brought on by the complainers themselves. In this case, especially with the controversy with respect to the taser, it would become a battle over "experts" and indeed be costly. Best to make them an offer, settle without prejudice, and be done with it. It is not unlike the general malaise that besets the "Department of Justice" on its criminal side. That being said no matter what happened the girl did assault an officer and as such there may be more to the story. On a side note the girl needs to just get therapy and get on with life.
