Surrey RCMP officer charged with assault

Vancouver, B.C. (Vancouver Sun) – A Surrey RCMP officer has been charged with two counts of assault following allegations he struck two men in May 2009 while responding to a domestic disturbance.

Const. Imran Saeed will make his first court appearance Dec. 8 at Surrey provincial court, Surrey RCMP said Friday in a press release.

Saeed, a member with about two years service at the time, was one of several officers to respond to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance. In June, 2009 two men alleged that they were struck by Const. Saeed during this incident.

The charges against him follow a police investigation.

He has been re-assigned to administrative duties. He is currently still removed from operational duties and assigned to administrative work.
