(Montreal Gazette) - A former Sûreté du Québec detective is to appear in court April 22 to face drunk driving and hit and run charges, Montreal police Constable Lynn Labelle said last night. The man, 56, was spotted late Thursday driving a civilian car erratically in the city’s east end, she said. He failed a Breathalyzer test, she added. Police later found that he had hit a parked car and caused it to strike a third car. His contract with the provincial police force was terminated yesterday, an SQ spokesperson said.

I think there should be an investigation done to see if this is job related and if it is this man should get some help.
After all we pay police officers that steal why don`t we pay them when the job had effected them as well.
I suspect that what this man has lived could be linked to Post Tramatic Disorder and if it`s so job related he should be looked after….. but an investigation of what he has been involved with could determin this.

I am surprised you haven’t claimed cover up yet. The medical coverage of police officers is no different that what you can obtain. His legal representation will no doubt explore the medical issues in his defense.
I note his “contract” with the SQ was terminated. Obviously there is provision for this type of situation as well as provisions for officers accused of theft. Probably this is viewed in a more serious light than an ‘allegation’ of theft? What would be your first clue, the damaged vehicles, the erratic driving observations, or the failed breathalyser test?
And its PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
