Edmonton, AB (iNews880.com) – A Saskatoon man has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder in an incident that left an Alberta RCMP officer with serious injuries.
Kenneth Thomas Janzen, 25, has been charged with a total of 14 offences and has entered a plea of not guilty on all of them.
Last July, Const. Danny Knight of Innisfail RCMP in central Alberta was struck by a vehicle fleeing police on the QE-II between Calgary and Edmonton.
He had been trying to lay a spike belt on the roadway to stop the car when he was struck, receiving several broken bones.
It’s also alleged the fleeing vehicle then nearly hit two other officers as they too tried to lay spike belts on the road.
Janzen’s trial is expected to last for 11 days and is set for March 15, 2010.
