Gravelbourg, Sask (Canadian Press) – A Saskatchewan RCMP officer has been charged with perjury in a drunk driving case.

Police say Const. Michel Hachey of the Gravelbourg detachment is accused of providing misleading evidence during a trial last August.

The Crown subsequently entered a stay of proceedings on an unrelated issue.

Hachey is to appear in court April 17 in Gravelbourg.

He is currently suspended with pay.

Hachey has been with the RCMP for 4 1/2 years – all of them stationed in Gravelbourg.
