RCMP report backs complaints of harassment

John DeMings, NovNewsNow.com

An RCMP investigation supports complaints by two Digby women that they were sexually harassed by Wylie Grimm, former commander of the police force’s Digby detachment.
Both women were outside employees who worked from the RCMP detachment offices.
A short three-paragraph news release faxed to this newspaper May 25 said the internal investigation confirmed the complaints almost three years ago by the unnamed women were founded.

The review “found no evidence to suggest the two complainants were willing participants in the circumstances.”

No action will be taken against Grimm who retired from the force in April, 2006, almost two years after the complaints were laid.

The RCMP news release was dated May 14 and was sent to Digby town councillors, but was then withheld from the public by RCMP until a television network began contacting police and municipal politicians.
