RCMP officer uses work vehicle to drop off Tory campaign signs

October 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Saskatoon, SK (Prince Albert Daily Herald) - The RCMP is investigating one of its own officers who used a work vehicle to drop off campaign signs for a Conservative election candidate in northern Saskatchewan.

The male officer was off-duty but wearing a uniform and driving an RCMP pick-up truck when he unloaded the signs at the campaign office of Rob Clarke in La Ronge on Monday morning.

RCMP Sgt. Carole Raymond says the officer was travelling through the city on his way to a detachment further north.

She says the force does not support any political party and is looking into the officer’s actions.

The force requires members use RCMP vehicles for work only.

Clarke, a former RCMP officer, became member of Parliament for the Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River riding during a byelection in March.
