RCMP officer pleads not guilty to shoplifting charge in Nova Scotia

New Glasgow, N.S. (Canadian Press) - A Mountie from Pictou County has pleaded not guilty to a charge of shoplifting.

Const. Blair Francis Gorman was charged last month with theft under $5,000 week after New Glasgow police investigated a complaint from a Wal-Mart store.

The 42-year-old was not in court today, but was represented by his lawyer.

The case was put over to April 16 to set a trial date.

Gorman was also charged last year with stealing gasoline from the federal government, defrauding the federal government through unauthorized use of a credit card and breach of trust by a peace officer
A preliminary hearing on those charges has also been set for April 16.
