Saint John’s, NL (The Telegram) – A female RCMP officer facing a charge of drunk driving has pleaded not guilty to the charge and has a trial date set for Feb. 23.
Const. Jacqueline Remillard, 36, of Conception Bay South did not appear in provincial court in St. John’s today, but had her lawyer Erin Breen appear on her behalf to enter the plea.
Remillard was pulled over June 27 in St. John’s and charged with impaired driving and exceeding the legal limit of 80-milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. She has been suspended from the force, pending the outcome of the charges.
It is the second time Remillard has faced such charges. She was acquitted of drunk driving charges in March of this year in relation to an incident in March 2006. At the time of the 2006 incident, Remillard had been stationed in the Avalon East district and had been on personal leave. She was not suspended from the force at that time.
