(ctvcalgary.ca) – A Cochrane-area RCMP officer, who broke into a home while drunk, has been given an absolute discharge.
Constable Keith Anderson, on the job for just seven months, had originally been charged with break and enter, but Monday in court in Cochrane, he pleaded guilty to mischief and was given an absolute discharge in court Monday.
The charge stemmed from a bizarre incident last February when Anderson smashed in the door of a Cochrane home.
Two seniors who were inside the home confronted Anderson and asked him to leave; he did so but passed out in a nearby snow bank where he was found by responding officers.
Anderson has been on paid leave since the incident.
An internal RCMP disciplinary hearing will now be held.
Penalties range from a paid suspension to being discharged.
I echo someone else’s comment “why are we allowing unleshing these common-sense challenged recruits onto the unsuspecting public?”
Breaking into someone’s home while drunk?
This is an RCMP Constable?
Good lord.
Hot debate. What do you think?
