Maple Ridge NewsA Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows RCMP officer charged with assault last November pleaded guilty to offence in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court on Feb. 28.
Cst. Pat Hughson received an eight month conditional discharge in exchange for the plea.
He must keep the peace, attend counselling for alcohol abuse and perform 25 hours of community service.
Hughson and fellow RCMP Cst. Steve Frazer were charged with assault last year following a five-month-long investigation into an incident that happened while they were off-duty.
According to RCMP, the pair had been drinking when they got into a fight with two men in the early morning hours of May 10 near 224th Street and North Avenue.
An investigation was launched by the local police detachment and the RCMP āEā division professional standards section immediately after the incident.
Hughson was charged with one count of assault as a result, while Frazer was charged with two counts.
Frazer has been diverted to an alternative measures program and will avoid a criminal conviction if he complies with specific conditions.
He is scheduled to appear in court on March 22.
