RCMP officer fined for driving offence, faces discipline

Chad Skelton (Vancouver Sun) – An RCMP officer has been fined $400 after pleading guilty to driving without due care and attention.

Cpl. Kim Bruce was originally charged with refusing to provide a breath sample after being pulled over in Surrey in November 2006, said an RCMP news release.

On Jan. 17, Bruce pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of driving without due care and attention — a Motor Vehicle Act offence — and was fined.

The RCMP said it will hold a disciplinary hearing into Bruce’s behaviour, though no date has yet been set.

The police said Bruce is currently working in the Lower Mainland, but did not identify which detachment.
