RCMP officer charged with theft at River Rock

(Vancouver Province) – An RCMP member has been charged with theft and is scheduled to appear in court next month.

It is alleged that Const. Nick Sharma, a member of the Combined Fores Special Enforcement Unit, was off-duty at the time of the incident on Dec. 9 last year at the River Rock Casino in Richmond. A man took a $400 cash ticket that was left behind in one of hte machines by another patron and cashed it in.

A charge of theft under $5,000 has been forwarded to Crown Counsel. Sharma is also facing an RCMP internal investigation and he has been assigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of both investigations. He appears in Richmond court May 19.
