The RCMP are looking into why it took officers nearly two hours to respond to the scene of a deadly crash Sunday just north of Storthoaks in south-east Saskatchewan.
EMS and fire crews were on scene as one man lay dead in his car and another was sent to hospital. But emergency crews had to wait for the RCMP to respond.
Sgt Ewan Booth is with the Carnduff detachment. When the call came in, he says officers were dealing with an unruly prisoner. On top of that, there are rules restricting one of the officers movements. As a cadet, workplace safety laws prohibited him from responding on his own.
Under normal circumstances, Booth says officers would be at the scene within 30 minutes.
