(Sun Media) - A former RCMP employee at Headingley’s traffic services detachment has pleaded guilty to one count of theft after using a federal government credit card to pay for a $100,000-plus personal spending spree.
Kristina Marie Ostapowich, 32, is expected to be sentenced later this spring.
Additional charges of fraud, criminal breach of trust and breach of trust by a public official were stayed in court yesterday.
When arrested, Mounties estimated Ostapowich used the card to pay for up to $170,000 in personal expenses between August 2004 and February 2006.
When sentenced, Ostapowich is expected to admit to stealing in excess of $100,000.
Ostapowich is alleged to have spent some of the money on groceries, clothing and home renovations.
