The picking of a Commissioner seems to have too much politics involved. Separate employer status is needed more than ever. As long as the government imposes its mangled bureaucratic methodology on the RCMP, the organization will not be able to streamline, hire, or function effectively. Hidden due to low comment rating. I say that with confidence, on behalf of the many men and women (both civilian and RCMP members) who proudly served along side him. It's unfortunate Deputy Sweeney never had the opportunity to lead this fine organization of ours. Although we wish him well in his retirement, many of us wish he was leading us in these uncertain times.

His senior management team seems to have turned against him. It must be ugly and out of control behind the those closed doors for members of the senior management of the RCMP to go outside it's blue walls in search of a resolution. This is unprecedented. They normally deal with problems internally. If Elliott wasn't before, he will now be untrusted by all members. He would be ineffectual as a leader of the men and women who work for him. The Conservative Government must act quickly. Elliott was brought in, at least partially, to build back a higher level of public trust back to the Force. What little he's been able to accomplish has been lost. Elliott has to go. His senior management team seems to have turned against him.
