RCMP appeal decision to halt disciplinary hearing

CBC.ca

The commanding officer of the RCMP in B.C. filed an appeal Tuesday of a recent decision by a tribunal to halt a disciplinary hearing into the conduct of a Prince George Mountie.
Const. Justin Harris had been accused of having sex with three underage teenage prostitutes
The allegations surfaced during the investigation into the sexual misconduct of a former Prince George judge who is now in jail.
Harris denies the allegations and maintains his innocence.
However, the allegations levelled against him have never been proven or disproven because an RCMP internal disciplinary hearing was halted just days after it started in October.
The panel of three senior officers from outside the province ruled that the RCMP had failed to investigate complaints against Harris within a one-year time limit.

The appeal by the commanding officer of E Division will go to an external review committee in Ottawa and then be forwarded with a recommendation to the commissioner of the RCMP.
There’s no word on how long the process will take. In the meantime, Harris remains suspended with pay.
