RCMP Admits Mistake in Not Answering Call

The RCMP admits they made a mistake in failing to answer a 911 call in northwestern Alberta.
A 44-year-old woman was later found murdered in her home last February.
Brenda Moreside called 911 and complained her common-law husband was drunk and breaking into her house. She was told police couldn't come because the man couldn't be charged with breaking into his own residence.
Supt. Marty Cheliak says the decision not to send police to the house was "clearly an error."
Cheliak says the commander of the High Prairie detachment has completed an eight-point action plan drawn up following the incident.
Moreside's common-law husband has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
