Montreal, QC (Canadian Press) - A judge has dismissed a $47.4-million civil suit launched against the RCMP by a man who claimed the Mounties entrapped him.
Alain Olivier sued the RCMP and several former officers, alleging that he was bullied into making a drug deal in Thailand that ultimately landed him in prison.
Superior Court Justice Michel Caron handed down a ruling in Montreal today dismissing Olivier’s claims against the force, saying he was not a credible witness.
Olivier’s lawyer, Francois Audet, says an appeal is very likely.
A distraught Olivier said he wouldn’t comment further but maintains there was a miscarriage of justice and that he can prove it.
