Who is keeping them accountable?

Police Beating Alleged

December 9th, 2007 · No Comments

(Edmonton Sun) - Eric Pemberton has launched a $150,000 lawsuit against the Attorney General of Canada and six members of the Leduc RCMP after alleging he was viciously beaten and zapped with a stun gun while handcuffed in a police cell.

According to a Nov. 16 statement of claim, Pemberton had his handcuffed arms twisted behind his back, was repeatedly punched and kicked, and was choked and stunned with a Taser before losing consciousness after being arrested on Nov. 20, 2005, and taken to the Leduc RCMP detachment.

The lawsuit also alleges Pemberton was later kicked in the face and held down while officers kneed him in the back and stomped on him until he blacked out again.

The lawsuit alleges Pemberton suffered painful injuries and nightmares due to the “malicious” conduct of the RCMP.
