Outgoing top cop says mounties not in ‘disarray’

(Postmedia News) – Departing RCMP Commissioner William Elliott insisted Wednesday that the RCMP is “not a force in disarray” and that the vast majority of Canadians still approve of the job that the Mounties are doing.

Elliott’s tenure was marked by infighting between himself and some senior members, who complained that Elliott was verbally abusive.

A major reshuffling of positions and the departure of several individuals resulted. Elliott said Wednesday that the media coverage of the infighting was often “grossly exaggerated.”
