Officers enter burning house to save woman

December 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Hobbema, Alberta (Canadian Press) - Three police officers risked their lives on Christmas morning to save a central Alberta woman from a burning house.

At first the intense flames and thick smoke drove officers away from the home in Hobbema, south of Edmonton.

But two Mounties and an officer from the Louis Bull police force wouldn’t give up. While one Mountie battled the flames with a fire extinquisher the two other officers re-entered the burning structure and found a woman unconscious in a back room.

They then passed the woman to safety through a window to other officers before retreating from the fire themselves.

The woman was taken to Wetaskiwin hospital for observation.
