Nain, Newfoundland and Labrador (Canadian Press) – A 41-year-old RCMP officer will return to court in October after he was charged with assaulting and confining a woman in a Labrador Inuit community.
Const. James Woodrow was charged after police were called to investigate an alleged disturbance involving an off-duty Mountie and a Nain woman.
A team of RCMP investigators was flown into the remote community and later arrested the officer.
Woodrow was charged with one count each of assault and forcible confinement.
His case has been set over to Oct. 7 in provincial court, where he is expected to enter a plea.
