N.S. Mountie faces trial for fraud

April 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Pictou, N.S. (Canadian Press) - A Pictou County RCMP officer accused of fraud and theft has been committed to stand trial.

A judge has determined there is enough evidence to warrant a trial for Const. Blair Francis Gorman.

The 42-year-old officer is charged with stealing gasoline from the federal government, unauthorized use of a credit card, and breach of trust by a peace officer.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in Pictou between May and July of last year.

Gorman will be back in Supreme Court in Pictou on Sept. 11 for the setting of a trial date.

The Mounties has also pleaded not guilty to a shoplifting charge arising from a separate alleged incident in New Glasgow last February.

He’s set to stand trial on that charge on June 16.
