(UPI) – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are at a loss as to why a civilian man in Nova Scotia has been receiving classified security alert messages.
The unidentified man’s pager has been getting about two security alerts a week since January, although all but the last one provided an area code, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
The last page listed Ottawa’s 613 area code, and when the man called, he heard a recorded message advising him to prepare for an incident at the Parliament buildings that would require a helmet and gas mask, the report said.
RCMP spokesman Sgt. Mark Gallagher told the broadcaster the matter is being investigated.
“It could be a recycled pager, it could be a number of things,” he said. “We just want to make sure it’s not going to reoccur.”
