Mountie Gets Off Lightly

August 5th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Kathy Coulombe, Montreal, QC (CJAD Radio) -  A former Mountie convicted of striking a 3-year-old child, won’t be locked-up.

Guy Charles faced a maximum18-month jail term, but got 3-months to be served in the community instead.

Charles hit the child in the face while he was the only adult present at his ex-wife’s daycare.

The incident happened in 2006, in Gatineau.

The victim’s family had hoped for a stiffer sentence, but says they’re relieved it’s all over.

Another fine example of unbiased journalism. The headline reads Mountie gets off lightly. Only in the following tripe do you read he is actually a “former” Mountie. Just what does that have to do with the article or the offense? What purpose other than to subtly insinuate the person is a present day cop in order to bash the cops again? I am pretty sick and tired of this kind of yellow journalism.
