Gordon Hoekstra (Vancouver Sun) – A Richmond RCMP corporal who has been charged with drunk driving offences will appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Monday.
Cpl. Tony Bernard has been charged with impaired driving, refusal to provide a breath sample, dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident, RCMP said Wednesday.
The charges stem from a Sept. 15 hit and-run incident that occurred in the 5400-block of Highway 17 in Delta, said RCMP.
A complainant called Delta police to report being side-swiped by another vehicle. The motorist was able to obtain the suspect’s licence plate number, and police pulled the vehicle over.
Bernard, who was off duty at the time, was driving his personal vehicle, said RCMP.
