Vancouver, B.C. (Canadian Press) – The Mountie in charge of the unit that investigated Robert Dziekanski’s death says he didn’t correct inaccurate information released to the public because it was unlikely to impact potential witnesses.
Supt. Wayne Rideout of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team told an inquiry into Dziekanski’s death that he was trying to protect the integrity of the case by not releasing any further information.
The RCMP initially said the would-be Polish immigrant was stunned twice but later revealed the Taser had been deployed five times.
Rideout said the information wasn’t corrected because the RCMP would have been criticized if the four officers involved were ultimately charged and proceeded to trial.
He says the details would then have been debated in the public domain.
Dziekanski died after being stunned with a Taser during a confrontation with Mounties at the international arrivals area of Vancouver airport, where he’d been throwing furniture.
This is NOT in the interest of the PUBLIC but in my opinion it’s really in the interest of the POLICE OFFICERS and the FORCE to DECEIVE the PUBLIC into BELIEVING something that’s not ACCURATE and MISLEADING when the MEDIA reports are RELEASED to GAIN an UNFAIR advantage and PUBLIC support and FAVOR when things GO wrong and BAD decissions are made all with the attitude that’s it’s someone else’s fault NEVER theirs.
Then when they are called to testify they hit the issue hard to explain and justify their decissions and BLAME others for MAKING them react the way THEY DID using EXCITED DELIRUM for an example a term Phychatrist use and should never be use by a police officer in the field.
It would be like making a decission on site that someone is dead without a Doctors report.
This is where the term; “A dead ringer” comes from.
