Mountie charged with assault

(Canadian Press) – A Mountie from a northern Manitoba detachment has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

RCMP say they received a complaint last January of excessive force during an arrest in The Pas some weeks earlier.

The complaint involved a 28-year-old man from the Opaskwayak Cree Nation who had been taken into custody for causing a disturbance.

Constable Rene David Pashe, a six-year veteran, is to appear in The Pas provincial court on November 28th.
