(Toronto Sun) – Former RCMP officer and convicted wife murderer Patrick Kelly has been granted full parole.
The National Parole Board made the decision to grant Kelly full parole during a hearing Wednesday, spokeswoman Debra Kihara told QMI Agency.
He had been allowed day parole in 2008.
Kelly was found guilty of the first-degree murder of his wife Jeanette after he threw her off their 17th-floor apartment balcony in Toronto. They had married in 1976, but his job as an undercover drug cop meant he was often away on lengthy business trips, which put a strain on the marriage. He has also admitted that a year after his honeymoon, he had his first of three extra-marital affairs.
Court has previously heard that Kelly has earned two university degrees and a certificate in kinesiology while in prison.
Prison authorities said he was a model inmate who crafted wood carvings, built pulpits and chests for charities and baked brownies for church services.
Who was he away on business with?
Maybe the HELL ANGELS were involved here too.
If sure seems like he was on something when he decided to through his wife off of the 17th floor.
Maybe he thought she could fly?
Hot debate. What do you think?
