Les denies shortage of RCMP officers

Victoria — Solicitor-General John Les yesterday played down a report that B.C. does not have enough RCMP officers, saying a confidential 2005 government briefing note outlined a situation that has since changed.

Mr. Les said that since then, the government has managed to balance the budget and find extra resources. He said the government invested in policing, noting that 400 more officers are working today and there is funding to recruit another 215. CP
