Kelowna, B.C. (CHBC News) – A Kelowna Mountie is in trouble with the law.
Staff Sergeant Owen Wlodarczak, 41, has been charged with assault, careless use of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The charges stem from an alleged fight Wlodarczak had with his estranged wife on May 4.
He is accused of punching his wife and waving a loaded RCMP handgun while inside the family house.
The Mountie has been suspended with pay and is under 24-hour house arrest.
Wlodarczak can only leave his house for medical reasons or with an escort approved by a bail supervisor.
He also must stay away from the home of his wife and daughters, aged 8 and 14.
Wlodarczak is required to continue psychiatric treatment and taking medications.
Staff Sergeant Owen Wlodarczak had his guns taken away a year ago and given back with no contact with immediate family members. He beat his wife, pointed a loaded RCMP gun at his her and then at his own head in front of his children.
The RCMP should be held acountable for not investigating this a year ago.
