Victoria, B.C. (Canadian Press) - An inquest has been set for this fall into the fatal police shooting of a 24-year-old man in Vernon last December.
Christopher Paul Klim was shot by Mounties when he refused to drop a knife and began to walk toward RCMP officers in his apartment.
The police had gone to his home on Dec. 27 to take him into custody on a mental health warrant.
The inquest will be held Nov. 12-14.
Last month, Klim’s father Clarence issued a letter saying the death might have been averted if police had arrived with a case worker or anyone qualified to talk to the victim.
The RCMP is also conducting an internal inquiry into the shooting.
