Kelowna, BC (AM1150) – The case of a Kelowna RCMP officer charged with two counts of assault has been adjourned again…this time until May 24th.
Cst. Geoff Mantler faces the charges after a video showed the officer kicking Buddy Tavares in the face during an arrest in January.
The other charge Mantler faces allegedly happened last August involving the arrest of Manjit Singh Bhatti who also claims he was assaulted by Mantler.
Tavares was at the Kelowna courthouse this afternoon hoping to get a glimpse of Mantler, but the officer didn’t show up.
“Face to face instead of face to boot. He might not be used to that. He might even start trembeling. He doesn’t have the balls to show up for court. Give me a break”.
While Mantler isn’t back in court until later this month, a protest against police brutality is tentatively planned for the May long weekend.
