Winnipeg Free Press

A former RCMP clerk has been charged with criminal breach of trust and other charges in connection to the alleged theft of $173,000 from the Headingley Traffic Service Detachment, RCMP said today.

Kristina Marie Ostapowich, 31, is also charged with theft and fraud over $5,000.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between August 2004 and February 2006.

RCMP said the charges pertain to the misuse of Government of Canada credit cards that resulted in a financial loss to the RCMP of approximately $173,000.

At the time of the alleged offences, Ostapowich was employed as a detachment clerk at Headingley Traffic Services Detachment.

She has been suspended without pay since February 2006.

Her first court appearance is April 1 in Winnipeg.
