Former police informant slams Mounties

Ottawa (United Press International) – A former Royal Canadian Mounted Police informant has likened his contact with the police to an abusive marriage, saying they treated him worse than a criminal.

Paul Derry claims to have infiltrated the Hells Angels only to be lied to by the Mounties, Canwest News Service reported Sunday.

Derry, whose testimony helped secure four murder convictions in a 2000 Hells Angels contract killing, sent a letter to RCMP Assistant Commissioner Raf Souccar, claiming he has “probably been lied to more by the RCMP than I have the criminals I helped to put away.”

“I have watched the criminals time and again, after their arrest, stand up and plead guilty, take responsibility for their actions, and face their consequences,” he wrote. “I have watched the RCMP do quite the opposite.”

Derry, who lives under another name, said he even informed the Mounties once of a planned Hells Angels hit, but was ignored and the target was killed.

“If I could use an analogy of what it’s like to be a source for the RCMP, I would have to compare it to an abusive marriage. One partner has all the control — and does not care about the pain or hurt that the rest of the family suffers.”

  1. It is the age of entitlement by everybody. A fast way to make a buck on the backs of taxpayers because the era is to bash authority no matter what the issue. Detritus like the “informant” should not profit from whining. Some bottom feeder will no doubt take up the cause and the government will capitulate and spend my tax dollars to shut him up.

  2. I knew this guy and his wife, Tina for a very long time. They were involved in prostitution, drugs, murder, etc., etc. to begin with. The only reason they became “informants” was because they were caught by the RCMP while they were doing “jobs” for the Hell’s Angels hoping to become members. Instead of taking responsibility for their actions, they became informants. These two were nowhere near innocent; and bluntly speaking, they would have both been killed long ago if not for the RCMP. Mr. Derry’s wife had just gotten out of jail a couple years before for accessory to murder, and in Ontario they were operating an illegal massage parlour, as well as selling drugs and beating up/killing people who owed them money. How exactly are the RCMP supposed to treat these people? Clearly, they arent realizing that the only reason they are still here is because the RCMP protected them. Really they should be in prison for the crimes they didnt get caught for, so they should be counting their lucky stars instead of trying to gain sympathy, and probably a lawsuit.
