March 20th, 2008 · No Comments

(Peterborough Examiner) - Former Peterborough city police chief Kevin McAlpine will help the federal government reform the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, announced the creation of the RCMP Reform Implementation Council, in response to a key recommendation from the Task Force on Governance and Cultural Change in the RCMP.

McAlpine, who served as city police chief from 1986-1997 before becoming chief in Durham, joins council chair David McAusland, Jean-Claude Bouchard, Beverley Busson and Jocelyne Cote-O’Hara on the council.

The council will provide advice to the minister of public safety on the reforms being made and to the commissioner respecting the RCMP’s implementation plan.
