Family of Alberta man who died after being Tasered suing RCMP

Red Deer, AB (Canadian Press) – The family of a 28-year-old man who died after being Tasered by RCMP has filed a lawsuit against the national police force.

Jason Doan was hit three times with the stun gun after police said he struck a Red Deer Mountie with a pitchfork during a scuffle. Police had responded to reports of a man damaging vehicles in August 2006.
Doan went into cardiac arrest and died in hospital three weeks later.

Lawyer Will Willier says Doan has a daughter and the family wonders how she will fare without her father.
A fatality inquiry into Doan’s death is set for December in Red Deer.
