An RCMP officer in Revelstoke, B.C. resigned earlier this month after being charged with breaking into the homes of two fellow officers.

“Well, I just got off the phone with RCMP Cpl. Tom Seaman who is expressing his own shock over this story, calling this ‘one of the weirdest things I’ve seen in 25 years of policing’,” said CTV Vancouver’s Rob Brown on Tuesday.

“Detachment (members) were all shocked over the revelation that one of their own members was arrested and charged,” said an RCMP news release.

Former constable James Carson, who spent all of his four years on the force in Revelstoke, is facing two counts of break-and-enter and theft.

Police are alleging he broke into the homes in January and February of this year.

The detachment called in investigators from Kelowna and Vancouver after one victim discovered some suspected links to Carson.

Outside of Seaman citing “‘behavioural issues’,” Brown said the RCMP aren’t saying why Carson would allegedly do such a thing. Because both the officers are male, the force isn’t suspecting stalking, he added.

“Investigators are satisfied that Carson’s only targets were the two fellow officers, and that no member of the public was ever in danger as a result of these alleged activities,” Brown said.

The RCMP arrested Carson earlier this month. He then resigned from the RCMP.

Carson is to appear in court in Salmon Arm, B.C. on April 18
