(Press Release) - Aspiring Mounties and the media are invited to come and learn more about what it takes to be part of Canada’s national police force.
For the first time in Oshawa, at the Fernhill/Nipigon Community Centre, RCMP Recruiting will be showcasing some of its units to the general public.
Featured will be members of the Drug and Motorcycle teams, Customs and Excise, Bomb Squad, Emergency Response Team, Forensics and more. There will also be an on-site demonstration of the RCMP’s physical testing track.
As the RCMP’s Recruiting campaign continues to develop, a large part of a recruiter’s job is to explain the recruiting process. Recruiters are also determined to clear up common misconceptions about what it takes to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
“Many potential applicants believe college or university training is a pre-requisite to join,” explains recruiter Cpl. Michelle Welsh.
“Post-secondary education is not necessary, although it is certainly beneficial. When it comes to education, the applicant simply requires a Grade 12 high school diploma to join.”
