Contract firearms instructor for RCMP facing theft, weapons charges

Regina, Saskatchewan (Regina Leader-Post) – A contract firearms instructor at the RCMP’s “Depot” Division in Regina has been charged with several offences.

Gary Faulconbridge, 63, has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.

The RCMP said the south Regina residence of Faulconbridge — at the time of the investigation a temporary contract firearms instructor — was searched by police on June 29. He was arrested in Regina that same day and later released.

“The theft charge relates to ammunition that was seized during the course of the investigation,” the RCMP said in a news release. “Investigators allege the ammunition was taken from the RCMP Depot firearms facility. The possession of stolen property charge and the possession of prohibited weapon charge relate to Oleoresin Capsicum(OC) spray and Explosive Diversion Devices that were seized during the course of the investigation. Investigators believe these items also originated from the firearms facility.”

Faulconbridge is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Regina on Aug. 18.
