A man in the Annapolis Valley [Nova Scotia] died after choking on a plastic bag containing cocaine, RCMP say.
An officer spotted Kenneth David Wright, 44, in a Tim Hortons parking lot in New Minas on Saturday afternoon and approached him to deal with an outstanding warrant.
Wright immediately asked if he could go to the bathroom. When he didn’t come out a few minutes later, the officer went inside and found him choking on the bag.
Wright, of Lower Wolfville, died of asphyxiation.
“It’s just a very tragic event,” said RCMP Const. Les Kakonyi.
An autopsy was to be performed.
The white substance in the plastic bag has been sent to an RCMP laboratory for toxicology analysis, but RCMP believe it was cocaine.
