(Toronto Sun) – Mounties are searching for an arsonist after an alert cell guard caught a man in the process of setting a B.C. RCMP building ablaze.
At 9:10 p.m. Friday, a guard at the Queen Charlotte detachment heard a noise and caught a man by surprise outside a smashed window. The would-be arsonist fled and left a four-litre jug of gasoline and a marine flare on the ground.
“This case is quite disturbing, considering that a fire in one of our buildings could cause injury or worse to staff or to persons lodged in cells,β said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk. βIn addition, the suspect’s actions could have caused a major disruption to police and ambulance service to the community as both RCMP and the (B.C. Ambulance Service) share the building.β
The man is described as six feet tall and wore a knit tuque and matching sweater. He also may smell of gasoline.
