Calgary, AB (CTV) – An Airdrie RCMP officer who is about to receive a prestigious award for bravery pleaded guilty to sexual assault today.
But a charge of luring a child and sexual exploitation against Constable Guy Raes were withdrawn.
He’ll be sentenced on Monday.
Raes is one of two Airdrie officers who will receive the Star of Courage from the Governor General.
The officers are being recognized for their actions during a massive blaze in Airdrie in 2005.
Fire destroyed or damaged more than two dozen townhomes.
The officers helped evacuate the homes and pulled a young couple out of one house that was engulfed in flames.
